Paul Stremple is an independent journalist and photographer based in Nairobi, Kenya, and working between East Africa and New York City. He reports on climate, culture and conflict across the region, with an eye to communities and stories outside the breaking news cycle.
His work has appeared in Bloomberg Businessweek, The Telegraph Magazine, New Lines Magazine, Al-Jazeera, New Humanitarian, the China-Global South Project, and the Christian Science Monitor. He was also assistant editor on the 2021 VICE documentary, “Essential Lives: The Bronx Battles COVID-19.”
Originally from Northern California, Paul worked in Tanzania as a health volunteer for the Peace Corps prior to moving to New York. He holds an MA from the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism, with a focus on photojournalism and international reporting, and a BA in English from UCLA. He is HEAT certified through SEPAR Int’l. He speaks English and Swahili.
